Not just another Hajj checklist!

Alhamdulillah, my website is finally ready and just in time as I get ready to depart for Hajj this year! Many of you will be performing Hajj this year too and who can’t do with another check list 🙂 … Hopefully I’ve got some points here that you haven’t read already and can benefit from!

General – Day or two Before you leave

  • Greet siblings and other relatives.
  • Greet friends (they just a call or text away)
  • Complete your Will
  • Don’t remove doctors certificate from the back of your passport
  • Finalise house, car and mail arrangements
  • Arrange transport to the airport
  • At work turn on your email Out of Office alert
  • Backup your phone
  • Remove personal and private pics and videos from your phone (eg. Pics of females without Hijab).
    Check your flight details for duration and transit times. This will determine what you need to pack in your hand carry luggage.
  • If you going to Makkah first, you need to keep your Ihraam and slippers in your hand carry luggage
  • Learn Patience

Packing in large bag

  • Quran
  • Dua books
  • Hajj books
  • Clothes
  • Toiletries
  • All liquids and gells and perfumes over 100ml in size
  • Pyjamas
  • 4 plug Powerbank extension cord. This means you only need one travel adaptor for the cord and you can charge 4 devices
  • Small back pack
  • Money belt
  • Ihraam
  • Vitamins
  • Sanitary Items
  • Medicine

Packing in hand carry bag

  • Patience
  • Dua book
  • Ear phones
  • Neck Pillow
  • Sanitary Items
  • Medicine
  • Some snacks for the plane
  • Make sure all liquids and gells are under 100ml. 100gram toothpaste is more than 100ml and will be confiscated.
  • Make sure no nail clippers or scissors
  • No uncharged mobile phones
  • Ihraam and slippers (if you going to Makkah first)
  • Change of clothes for transit hotel

On the day of Departure

  • Remove all politically sensitive pics, videos, whatsapps, etc from your phone
  • Tickets
  • Passport
  • Money
  • Cards
  • Contact lists
  • Phone chargers
  • Copy of passport and important papers
  • Make wudhu and put on socks so you can wipe over them later
  • Tissues for farewells at the airport
  • Greet parents
  • Fill in departure cards
  • Patience

Check-in/Immigration

  • Go early
  • Remain polite
  • Follow group leaders instructions
  • Help older pilgrims
  • Check seat numbers to make sure you sitting next to your partner
  • Check that luggage has been tagged to final destination
  • Check if you need and hotel vouchers for long transit
  • Patience

On the plane

  • Turn of mobile data
  • Make travelling dua
  • Don’t neglect your prayers
  • Supplicate as a traveller

At Arrival airport

  • Patience
  • Salah (don’t lose track of the time)
  • Dont ask ‘how long before…’
  • Dont ask ‘why don’t they…’
  • Dont ask ‘where is my passport?’ Your passport will be taken on arrival and returned on departure.

Arrival at Hotel

  • Patience
  • Make sure your bags ‘made it’
  • Remember Group leaders can only hand out one key at a time
  • Be prepared for rooms not the be ready (depends on day and time of arrival)
  • Listen to group instructions
  • Familiarise yourself with hotel location
  • Enjoy your trip and may Allah make the journey easy for you…
