The learning Haaji

In one of my previous blogs, I had written about how you can become a comfortable Haaji. If you missed it, you can read it here. So let’s assume you’re now comfortable, which will also mean you have more time on your hands.

Remember time is your currency during Hajj so it’s all about how you invest it best.

The learning Haaji

Besides learning about the Umrah and Hajj rites on your trip, there are an abundance of opportunities to learn more about our Deen and more importantly ask questions to clarify all those doubts that you’ve had!

Just last night we sat till late with one Sheikh who graduated with a PHD from Madinah university, learning so much about various matters and had some complex questions answered. Today we had a very inspiring lecture and many took the chance to have alone time with the Sheikh. If your group has a Sheikh accompanying them, try and make the best use of your time by spending it with them (without annoying them of course ). Generally time walking to and from the Masjid, time in the Masjid itself, meal time, etc. are all good times to catch up with them.

Also in the Masjid itself there are lessons in various languages (Arabic, Urdu, French, Turkish and Indonesian). No English unfortuanetly. There are also many basic Quran recitation stations where you can improve your reading. Just look around and you’ll see various groups learning in the Masjid and you are free to join them.

If you look carefully at the photos I’ve taken below, you will notice in all of them there is some sort of teaching happening Alhamdulillah.

So don’t miss this opportunity to learn and then implement what you learn straight away. Books are also quite cheap here so stock up for your library.

Remember, you are in the blessed and holy cities and every second that you miss is worth a lot more than it was worth back home. Hopefully you will all now start working towards becoming learning Haajis!
